Dube draws spotlight with stellar national performances
Shivam Dube’s recent performances for the national team have earned him a lot of praise, particularly in the T20 format. During India’s last T20I series against Afghanistan, he demonstrated his prowess with two unbeaten half-centuries. In the opening match held in Mohali, he scored 60 off 40 deliveries and guided India to a six-wicket victory. He eventually emerged as the Player of the Match. Subsequently, in Indore game, he struck a stunning 32-ball 63 and helped India register another six-wicket win to seal the series.
Before this, he had a memorable IPL campaign in 2023, where he emerged as one of CSK’s top performers, finishing as the team’s third-leading run-scorer for the season. With discussions swirling around his potential inclusion in India’s squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024, his explosive batting and finishing skills present a compelling case for selection.
With the focus now shifting to IPL 2024, Dube aims to solidify his place in India’s World Cup squad through consistent performances. As defending champions, CSK will rely on the 30-year-old batter’s contributions to vie for a record sixth title, marking what could be Dhoni’s final IPL season with the team.
