Colombo Strikers will be looking for a winning start to their Lanka Premier League 2024 campaign after a disastrous performance in the previous season where they finished last after losing five out of the eight games. This year, the Strikers will hope for better results after updating their squad that will see the likes of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Muhammad Waseem, Shadab Khan, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Matheesha Pathirana going all guns blazing for the team.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Glenn Phillips and Muhammad Waseem will be the players to watch out for. Gurbaz had a great run in the T20 World Cup where he scored 281 runs and led Afghanistan to the semi-final. Glenn Phillips did not a get a chance to do much in the World Cup and he was unlucky to not get a game for SRH in IPL, however, he is a destrictive batter and will be eyeing some blistering performance in LPL. Sadeera Samarawickrama is a top class local talent and would be the one to watch out for with the bat in the top order.

The bowling will rest on Matheesha Pathirana, Binura Fernando and Shadab Khan. Matheesha Pathirana is a world class bowler and a T20 specialist. He will lead the Strikers’ bowling attack. Binura Fernando will add variation to the bowling lineup with his left arm fast bowling. Shadab did not have a great World Cup and he has a point to prove. The LPL will give him a platform to regain lost form.

Kandy Falcons started the tournament with a win. The team defeated Dambulla Sixers by six wickets. Chasing a target of 180, the team cruised to a win in the 18th over. Kandy have entered the tournament as defending champs and are looking strong to win the title again.

Dinesh Chandimal, Mohammad Haris and Dasun Shanaka will be key players for Kandy. Shanaka had a great outing against Dambulla and scored unbeaten 46 in 15 balls. Haris is a talented cricketer and will be eyeing a strong comeback after a poor start. Meanwhile, Chandimal also had a great game against Dambulla and scored 65 runs.

KFS Team Bowling

Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera will be the key bowlers. Shanaka delivered a stunning show with the ball and picked three wickets against Dambulla. Chameera and Hasaranga went wicketless but the Sri Lanka stars are match winners on their day and can be backed to make a strong return in the next match.
